McDonald to Receive IPC Leadership Award

ed-mcdonaldThe ASMP Board of Directors has designated Ed McDonald as the recipient of the 2014 International Photographic Council (IPC) Leadership Award. Prior to becoming a national Board member and then President of ASMP, Ed worked tirelessly as a volunteer for his Central Florida Chapter. As a Board member, Ed created and managed ASMP's social media presence and, as President, he managed the redesign of ASMP's logo, the revision of ASMP's governance documents, and the passage of a constitutional referendum. Ed's leadership has allowed ASMP to better serve our members and the photography industry. He will be honored along with winners chosen by other professional photography organizations in New York in May.

To read the ASMP Statement sent by General Counsel Victor Perlman for use by the U.S. House Of Representatives' Hearing on the Scope of Fair Use: go here.

  • The National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) together with the law firm of Holland & Knight is launching a new study on the use of remotely controlled aircraft or drones in news-gathering. • A change to New York labor law regulations (Part 186) may have onerous implications for photographers and those in the stock photography industry who shoot child models As of November 2013, "print and runway" models are now included among the artistic or creative services that require a permit when using child performers . Previously, the regulations only applied to performers and entertainers in traditional entertainment endeavors and not still photography. You can read more in a paper by Nancy Wolff, Esq. here
