Orphan works…Orphan Works legislation remains very much on the agenda for Congressional staff and ASMP remains actively involved in
discussions on the subject. According to General Counsel Vic Perlman, action is expected in the foreseeable future, quite likely before the
end of 2010.
-
ACTA…ASMP has joined with 29 major associations, organizations and companies to send a letter to Congress supporting the
Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) to enhance and strengthen the global fight against piracy and counterfeiting. The letter states
"We strongly support the Administration's efforts to negotiate a sound and comprehensive ACTA that codifies best practices for copyright
enforcement, and we urge you to do so as well."

Best of ASMP 2009
Choosing twenty finalists from close to 100 projects submitted for the fifth annual Best of ASMP was a challenging task.
Nearly all chapters and several international entries were represented, and the final selection included emerging, associate and
general members from 15 chapters and Canada. Projects that made the cut often married a strong concept and compelling imagery plus
an entrepreneurial characteristic to the works production, marketing or outreach, which set the work apart. This year, a growing
number of projects targeted multimedia content or had multilayered components, which mirrors the direction of the industry at large.
