Tools to simplify faxing to the House Judiciary Committee members

Import file for your address book, a model letter and other helpful info. Updated on July 18, 2006.

Contact your home Legislators too

To find your Representative's name, enter your state and zip code on this page. Then find the Representative's home page using the alphabetic list. The home page will have a "contact" link for fax numbers and other info.

  1. The names and fax numbers of Representatives on the committee can be loaded into your Address Book program from this vCard file.

  2. If you use Microsoft Word (or equivalent) to compose your letter, here's a Word file that has ready-to-paste salutations for each of the legislators. It streamlines the tedious process of retyping all the names at the top of each fax you send.

The body of our model letter — which you should modify! — is available here as a Word file. Be sure to fix up the styles to match your business letterhead; this is just the bare text.

  3. Mac OS X has built-in features for sending faxes. To use it, first plug an analog (voice) telephone line into the Mac's modem port. Then you simply "print" the fax. In the 10.3 (Panther) version of the OS, the print dialog has a Fax… button. In 10.4 (Tiger), it's one of the options under the PDF… button.

The fax software will ask for the name of the recipient. If the name is in your Address Book, it will fill in the fax number automatically.
