Miami to get 'Celebrate Architecture' photo exhibition in November
Celebrate Architecture, a juried exhibition of architectural photographs, will open in Miami on November 1. The exhibit is sponsored by the South Florida Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and the national ASMP/Architecture Specialty Group, the Miami Center for the Photographic Arts (MCPA), and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Miami Chapter. The photographs were taken by ASMP members across the United States and Canada.
The exhibition will take place at the MCPA Gallery inside Borders, Inc., at 1601 SW 1st Street, Miami, FL 33135. The prints will remain on display through November 30th, 2006. In addition, there will be a special Exhibit Reception on Saturday, November 18, from 5-8 pm at the Gallery.
The event chairperson, Liz Ordoñez-Dawes, said, "It will be a great opportunity to see works from top photographers from all over the US and Canada. And the reception will be a fun time to meet some of the artists, enjoy the flavors of the Latin Quarter, and find just the right piece of art work missing in your collection."
Although the subject of each photograph is a work of architecture, the emphasis of the exhibition is on artistic and personal expression. Each image captures some unique aspect of "the built environment."
Admission to the Gallery is free, and all of the prints are for sale, but the photographs must remain on display until the end of the month. For more information, please contact Ms. Ordoñez-Dawes.
