New evening seminars.

We continue the successful "It's Your Business" seminar series with two new topics. Pixel Cash is about maintaining and managing your digital images for your benefit and for your licensees' benefit. Web Marketing shows you how to make your web site friendlier to search engines and how to improve your page rank.

Epson is launches a series of one-day tutorials on digital printing

Starting in January, the Epson Print Academy will travel to eleven cities to host seminars that teach you how to make great prints. In each city, the Academy will present two concurrent tracks, one for beginners in digital printing and one for experienced print-makers.

Track One is designed for photo enthusiasts, advanced amateurs and new digital SLR camera owners. It will include a walk-through of the process from photo shoot to paper output, a discussion of common digital file problems, a Photoshop tutorial, and demos by experts. This track is priced at $50.

Track Two is designed for working professionals who want to advance their businesses to the next level in both quality and productivity. Topics include color management, optimizing your workflow, fine-art printing tips, using a RIP, black-and-white techniques, and working with graphic designers and commercial printers. This track is priced at $150, but by entering "EPAPDISC" as your discount code, you'll get a $50 discount.

There will also be demo areas where you can look at Epson's latest printers and inks. Other sponsors include Adobe, Lexar Media, Light Impressions, Microsoft, NAPP, Nik Multimedia, Wacom and X-Rite.

ASPP Announces Fourth Education Conference in San Francisco

The American Society of Picture Professionals (ASPP) will hold their fourth education conference in San Francisco over four days, Thursday through Sunday, March 23-26, 2006. ASPP is a non-profit, national organization of photographers, editors, agents, and those who work with images and other still pictures.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union Square will be the venue for educational seminars and presentations on current topics including Adobe CS2 and Adobe Stock Photo, RAW Capture Workflow, News Photography, Style Trends and Demographics, New Licensing Models and Bundled Rights, and Digital Asset Management. Breakout sessions will provide attendees with updates on PLUS and Visual Search.

Legendary photographer Douglas Kirkland, one of Canon's "Explorers of Light," will give the Friday evening keynote presentation, "A Fifty Year Love Affair with Photography. " His special presentation sponsored by Canon USA covers five decades of passion for all things photography, from nailing an impossible shot with improvised equipment to swiftly embracing and commanding the most complex shooting, editing, and delivery technology of our times.

The four-day conference includes networking gatherings, local cultural outing events, portfolio reviews, and ASPP s bi-annual Board Meeting and General Session. Sister organizations ASMP, PACA, NANPA, VRA, SAA, EP and APA will receive discounted registration fees.
