Are You Ready to Admit You Have a Problem?

Then it's time for a career intervention with marketing insights presented in this 12-Step Marketing Rehab program for photographers. It's open to anyone in the photographic community who is willing to listen to this no-holds-barred seminar on what works and doesn't work in photographer websites, portfolios and promotional materials. It's a one-day event featuring three break-out sessions lead by art producers, art directors, consultants and more, plus an accompanying exhibition of professionals and organizations that will provide you with the resources you need to revamp your marketing.

This is rehab, not daycare, so don't come if you can't take the heat. It is not a place to share your portfolio with or to network with the presenters. Socializing is fine, but there will be a strict "no sales" policy in place and those violating this rule will be asked to leave. The presenters will be in attendance for one reason and one reason only: to share their expertise with the group.

Why Rehab?

Long story short, this whole thing came about when a local art producer from a national ad agency was having a difficult time finding appropriate work to share with art directors who were not familiar with other markets. In some cases, the websites actually unsold the photographer. So instead of getting mad, she decided to get even — even playing field, that is. What you don't know can hurt you.

Join moderator Kat Dalager, Director of Project Operations for the in-house creative agency for Lifetime Fitness and former Print Production and Integrated Producer at Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis, and our guest panelists, including Suzanne Sease, on Saturday, November 2nd, for an enlivening discussion of where to take your marketing and promotions and how to stand out in the crowded field of photographers and other visual creatives.

Schedule:

  • Noon — 1:00pm, Vendor Expo
  • 1:00pm — 1:45pm, Session One: Panelists will each share the websites/work/promotional materials of three photographers that "do it right" and describe why.
  • 2:00pm — 2:45pm, Session Two: Panelists will give their opinions on best practices in contacting potential clients.
  • 3:00pm — 3:45pm, Session Three: Panelists will discuss the "best bang for your buck" when it comes to marketing yourself.
  • 3:45pm — 4:45pm, Networking Reception: Gather with your friends, new and old, colleagues, vendors and panelists to share a drink, experiences, war stories and funny stories.
