Tools of Modern Storytelling (The Blurb Presentation) at Canon Hollywood, 6060 Sunset. Blvd.
Over the past ten years the photography, publishing and media industries have seen profound change. The traditional models of information exchange and delivery are shifting on a daily basis. More so than ever before the creative artist is in control of his or her own destiny. At their fingertips lies an assortment of tools ranging from online communities to print-on-demand books, magazines and electronic media. But what do all these new tools mean and how do they actually work? Blurb “Photographer at Large” Daniel Milnor will explore the genesis of his project Una Pura Verdad, (A Simple Truth) by taking the audience on a visual journey starting with the initial photograph made, then exploring the manifestation of the project as it lives multiple lives in multiple, modern formats. This seminar is for anyone wanting to create his or her own books, magazines or promotional materials. The seminar will cover not only how to make these items, but also how to create community as well as how to market and sell. Milnor will also feature case study books that break the mold of what we have come to expect from the illustrated world.
This is an interactive presentation, so students should bring their questions, notebooks, sense of humor and passion for exploring this new, visual world of opportunity.
Thanks to Canon and Blurb we are able to offer this event for free. However, we request that you RSVP below.
