ASMP Presents

ASMP Photo Tech 2009

The core of Photo Tech 2009, as in previous years, will be a two-day Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom seminar ("The Best Damn Photoshop Seminar #6") presented by David Marx. Marx is an ASMP Member, an Instructor of 7 years at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, and a thriving photographer shooting sports for publications such as Skiing Magazine, National Geographic Adventure and Outside Magazine. Marx has extensive knowledge of digital photography and is an Adobe Certified Expert in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. He will present his best new tips and tricks within Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2, as well as provide an extensive look at Lightroom 2 from cover to cover. His presentation will be from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday.

Three individual half-day seminars will run simultaneously with the Photoshop and Lightroom seminar presented by Marx:

Thursday afternoon. Transitioning from Still to Video, presented by Indianapolis Star Photographer / Videographer Sam Riche. Riche has taken the lead at the Star in successfully transitioning the photo department to video. A respected speaker in the journalistic community, Riche will discuss the technology and software essential for the transition to Video, along with sharing his trials and tribulations in making the transition himself.

Friday morning. New Media Secrets: Marketing & Your Message, presented by ASMP Member Rosh Sillars. Sillars is a veteran photographer with a photojournalism background specializing in people, food and interiors. Rosh offers his services to traditional media, new media and corporate clients. He owns the creative representation firm The Rosh Group, Inc., and teaches photography at two universities. His program covers the new rules in the continually changing landscape of communication. Sillars discusses new Internet tools and applications that help individuals and organizations better tell their story through digital marketing and personal branding.

Friday afternoon. DP Best Flow: Digital Photography Best Practices and Workflow, presented by ASMP Member Jay Kinghorn. Kinghorn is a prolific author, provocative speaker, and Adobe Photoshop Certified Expert. His seminar will summarize the key recommendations of the DPBestFlow project. Kinghorn will help you streamline your workflow, suggest methods to protect your photos against loss, and offer ways to ensure the files you create today will become part of your legacy tomorrow. From image archiving to raw editing, color spaces to guide prints, the DPBestFlow findings make building or refining your workflow simple and effective.

The ASMP dpBestflow project is the product of more than two years of extensive research funded by the Library of Congress. The project provides a comprehensive guide to every aspect of a digital photography workflow.
