The North Carolina chapter of ASMP is launching Photo Assistant Bootcamp on April 2, 2016 at Randolph Community College, Asheboro, NC, from 9am-2pm. This educational workshop is designed for students and emerging photographers who intend to work as photographer's assistants.
This workshop will provide valuable insights and information about what is expected of a photographer's assistant both in the studio and on location during commercial, corporate and editorial productions. Day rates and other business aspects related to being a photographer's assistant will be covered.
Several established ASMP photographers will be presenting, including Joe Lavine with Profoto, Bob Leverone, Steven McBride. Adam Pinnell will discuss his experiences as a first assistant and digital tech. These industry veterans will present how they work with photo assistants and what is expected during their production workflows, before, during and after the photo shoot.
Joe Lavine will also showcase the latest in Profoto lighting and go over some studio lighting basics using different modifiers and proper metering technique.
The day will end in smaller group sessions and tutorials emphasizing proper and safe C-stand usage, cable wrapping, light metering technique and understanding modifiers. This event will also provide a great opportunity to network with professional ASMP photographers and exchange your contact information with them in person.
At the end of the day, successful attendees will be included in a soon-to-be-developed NC Photo Assistant Directory hosted on the ASMP-NC.org webpage. This directory will provide visiting and in-state photographers with a list of certified photo assistants and their contact information. A current ASMP membership will be required for inclusion in this directory.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
This event is generously sponsored by ProFoto and Randolph Community College.
