As budgets have become squeezed, some clients have started requesting press-ready files. Other clients are willing to pay the photographer for the convenience of press-ready files. Even for your own promotions or books, doing some of your own pre-press work can substantially reduce your printing costs.
So if everybody wants press-ready files, how do you get there from a raw image?
Join ASMP Arizona/Phoenix at International Color Services this week to find out!
If you've seen print materials, you've probably seen ICS in action: They produce color separations, catalogs, and retouching for national clients including Arizona Highways, Sur La Table, Anthropologie, DWR, and Brooks Brothers.
This is your opportunity to explore the world of press and learn how to prepare your files in a way that impresses your clients and add values to your services. Pat Perigo will be discussing color management, the Lab color space, and how to use but not abuse filters. Then Rob McKee, ICS's Lead Pre-Media Operator, will show us what it takes to get images ready for press. Rob will expand on Lab's uses in commercial printing, walk through basic workflow concerns, and explain the proofing and matching process.
Rob McKee has over 30 years' experience in pre-press, has served as team lead, gone on press checks, performed quality control for ICS( the last check before sending files to press & clients) & managed pre-press departments. Rob is currently a lead pre-media operator for ICS.
