Photography is an international language, and from its very beginnings the ASMP has counted internationally based photographers as integral members.

Country Based/For How Long: Spain, 25 years
Nationality: American
Photographic Specialty: Architecture and interiors.
For how many years have you worked as a photographer? 25 years.
For how many years have you been an ASMP member? 21 years.
What do you consider to be the most valuable aspect of your membership in the ASMP?
At this point in time, the forums.
What service or information could ASMP provide to you as an international member that would add value to your membership? Would you be willing to pay extra for this service?
The thing we international members miss out on the most is the benefit of a local chapter, and the difficulty in attending any events or seminars. I for one have always felt that notes, audio and/or video should be made available of interesting seminars so that we can attend the events virtually that can be captured in this way... although I do know that legal issues can sometimes get in the way with this. Regarding payment, if there was no alternative I'd consider it on a one-by-one basis, but since we pay the same dues as US members who by location can access more benefits, I believe this should be available within our dues; at least to us overseas members.
Do you participate in any of the existing ASMP specialty groups or listservs? If so, which ones?
Very actively in the Architectural, passively in Corporate, rarely in Fine Art.
Do you belong to other local photographic or professional associations within your local community? If so, which ones?
The AFP (Spanish photographer's association), the CIT (Marbella's business collective) and, of course, the SAA worldwide.
What is your primary source of news about the photography industry?
PDN online, forums.
In your opinion, what is the most critical issue affecting photographers in your local community today?
"Good enough" cheap stock licensing and amateur digital capture eating away at standards and demand.
In the interest of building community and forging strategic alliances, would you be willing to share resources and knowledge of your local market with another ASMP member if they were to contact you in advance of a trip to your area?
Yes, I do so when this comes up, a common practice for those of us within the forum.
