National Committees


All chairs and liaisons may select members for their Committee work as they deem necessary.

 

Committees, Liaisons and Study Groups

Strategic Opportunities CommitteeRichard Kelly

The Committee will seek out, identify and build strategic relationships and partnerships to increase ASMP’s participation and influence in industry, legal and government circles. The goal will be twofold: to increase the effectiveness of ASMP’s advocacy efforts, and to discover new business opportunities for ASMP’s members.

 

The Committee will oversee the creation of “white papers” clarifying ASMP’s positions on critical industry issues including copyright, licensing, and business practices.

Chapter Relations CommitteeKevin Lock

The Committee will improve and expand communication between chapter leaders and the ASMP Board of Directors. The goal is to build the concept “We are one ASMP”. The Committee will explore and establish appropriate communication channels and tools to meet these goals.

 

The Committee will develop and share information and materials useful to chapter leaders in running their chapters. It will encourage ASMP’s Chapter Leaders to share information on successful chapter activities including programming, membership and finances.

 

The Chair will oversee the Chapter leadership training workshops and the moderation of the ASMP Leadership Listserv.

 

The Committee will explore the financial feasibility of a Bradshaw Leadership Conference in the Spring of 2012.

Find a Photographer Oversight CommitteeShawn Henry

The Committee will develop the means to promote FAP to the wider community of photo buyers. The Committee will work to generate greater participation by ASMP Members.

 

The Committee will also explore and supervise technical and operational improvements to the service.

Governance CommitteeRichard Kelly

Starting at the conclusion of the annual election, the Governance Committee will begin identifying and observing potential future candidates for the National Board. When possible, the Committee shall match potential candidates with appropriate National Committees and monitor each participant’s progress. As the new election cycle approaches, the Committee will identify those candidates it wishes to recommend and invite them to run for election with the Governance Committee’s support.

 

The Committee will study and recommend whether ASMP will continue the practice of indicating the recommended candidates on the election ballot. This task will be accomplished by the Fall 2011 ASMP Board meeting.

dpBestflow Oversight CommitteeGail Mooney

The Committee will provide oversight of operational and financial matters relating to ASMP’s continuing development of dpBestflow materials.

Membership CommitteeJenna Close

The Committee will work with Chapter Presidents and Chapter Membership Chairs to encourage and guide them in the process of recruiting new members and the retention of existing members.

 

The Committee will convey the benefits of membership to members and non-members through participation in on-line communities, social network sites, forums or other available vehicles.

 

The Committee will engage in periodic reviews of membership recruitment and retention materials.

 

The Committee will explore the concept of satellite meetings and programming for members in geographically isolated areas who do not have easy access to regular chapter meetings and events.

Motion and Video Practices CommitteeGail Mooney

The Committee will research industry trends, business models and business practices.

 

The Committee will recommend the development of educational materials for members who produce video and motion imaging.

Copyright CommitteeKate Baldwin

The Committee will press for regulatory and legislative improvements in the copyright registration process, to work with software developers to integrate registration into image processing applications, and to educate photographers and the public about copyright.

The Committee will oversee the development and expansion of ASMP’s presence in social-media venues.

 

The Committee will develop resources and recommendations for ASMP’s Chapters and Specialty Groups to effectively improve and manage their social media presence.

 

The Committee will recommend educational resources and strategies for members to improve the effectiveness of their social media marketing.

Stock Image Licensing CommitteeShannon Fagan

The Committee will identify issues and opportunities relating to the production of commercial stock imaging, licensing models and sales outlets. The Committee will develop position papers and educational materials in response to industry trends and changes.

On-Line Licensing & Image Management CommitteeBlake Discher

The Committee will research emerging commercial on-line licensing solutions, image registries and image recognition search technologies for members to automate and/or control licensing, track usage and manage their images in a digital environment.

 

The Committee will create a database of these various entities along with comparative information on features as they relate to member’s needs.

On-Line Publishing CommitteeShawn Henry

The Committee will study the transition of the ASMP Bulletin to an online-only publication (with the exception of a single print edition). Emphasis will be placed on producing interactive content to be an example of cutting-edge electronic publishing technology.

 

The Committee will explore other online publishing opportunities for ASMP-produced and -branded content.

Chapter LiaisonsChris Hollo, Barry Schwartz, Steve Whittaker and Kevin Lock

The Chapter Liaisons will report to and be part of the Chapter Relations Committee. The liaisons will act as the primary communication link between ASMP Chapter Presidents and the ASMP Board of Directors. They will provide direct answers to questions where possible and bring items to the board’s attention when necessary.

 

Specialty Group LiaisonBruce Katz

The liaison serves as the Specialty Groups link to the board, handles all requests for funding and any other issues that may arise.
